When is National Brother’s Day?
May 24th is National Brother’s Day so there’s plenty of shopping and creating days left. It’s actually quite nicely sandwiched in between Mother’s Day on May 8th and Father’s Day on June 19th. If you’re a sibling to a sister, you have a little time before Sister’s Day rolls around on August 7th.
And, while we’re at it, National Dog Day is August 26th, National Cat Day is October 29th. That should cover a majority of family members in most households.
What is National Brother’s Day?
National Brother’s Day is a time where we can formally appreciate all our brothers do for us. It’s been celebrated in various countries since the year 2005. It’s a day dedicated to strengthening the bond brothers share. And let’s not forget to recognize the other people who often feel like brothers in our lives like cousins, brother-in-laws, or friends. Everyone should have that kind of person in their lives who they can count on for some good advice or a simple helping hand when you need one.
On this day, let them know how much you appreciate them and consider a thoughtful Brother’s Day gift to be extra nice.
This special holiday can also serve as an opportunity to reach out to repair a bond that has been damaged. We all may know someone who doesn’t have a good relationship with a sibling. Your gift to them might be a simple phone call or a knock on their door. Being at odds with a family member can be a heavy weight to carry around. Sometimes letting bygones be bygones can be a wonderful thing.
A few unique gift ideas for your brother
Besides the obvious shirts, glasses, and personalized items, we’ve listed a few great Brother’s Day gift ideas to consider. They’re your brother, so you probably know best what’s appropriate as a gift. Here’s a few National Brother’s Day gift ideas for that special brother in your life.
Printed personalized photo gifts
Every time someone snaps a photo of brothers being brothers is a great opportunity for a gift. Your Photos folder is probably full of great shots that could easily become a printed photo book, card, calendar, or canvas wall art. For some real nostalgia, dig out those folders of snapshots from when the two of you were just kids. If you’re the angler types, print that pic of you holding that trophy on gallery-quality stretched canvas. Motif photos is a free app for your Mac, iPhone, and iPad that turns those shots into thoughtful printed personalized gifts for brothers.
Custom cocktail subscription
If you and your brother enjoy a tasty beverage when you get together, there are great cocktail subscription services that can keep the drinks fresh all year long. Companies like Cocktail Courier will deliver cocktail kits including everything you need (even the spirits) to create bar-quality beverages wherever you and your brother enjoy sharing one or two.
Book a tee time
Making a reservation to play some golf is often reason enough to say yes. Playing a round of golf on National Brother’s Day is a great way to celebrate and get a little exercise at the same time. And if three or four hours on the course doesn’t feel like enough time together, hit the clubhouse afterwards for a bite and more brotherly conversations/ribbing.
Make any reservation or buy tickets
Sometimes life can be hectic. Our obligations to our family and jobs can get in the way of brothers getting together. It’s easy to say you’re busy when there are so many things to do. However, when someone makes a reservation for a cabin, hotel, or resort, the event has surpassed the idea phase and is now into the happening phase. If your brother is busy with life, try taking care of the setup to make getting together easier for everyone. Get tickets to a sporting event and watch a “maybe” turn into a solid “yes.”
